MUSIC DJ KHALED REVAMPED AN EARLY 2000 R&B CLASSIC FOR HIS LATEST ANTHEM

It sounds like DJ Khaled has another one on his hands.

After building hype for his Major Keyalbum with “For Free,” featuring Drake; “I Got the Keys,” featuring Jay Z and Future; and “Holy Ghost,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, and Betty Wright, he delivered one final warm-up for the album, which hits stores on Friday: “Do You Mind,” featuring Nicki MinajChrisBrown, FutureJeremihRick Ross, and August Alsina.

If the track sounds familiar, that’s because it flips the beat from Usher, Ludacris, and Lil Jon’s chart-topping 2004 single “Lovers and Friends” (which itself sampled Michael Sterling’s 1990 track “Lovers and Friends”). August Alsina even borrows a bit from Usher’s verse on the original for his part here.

Although it might look like Khaled’s packed every major name onto the album’s first four releases, there’s actually more to come: He’s also got songs with Nas, J. Cole, Bryson Tiller, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, French Montana, and a ton more.
